PERUVIAN SOUTHERN PROGRAM 01:
LIMA - PARACAS - ICA - NAZCA - AREQUIPA - PUNO -CUSCO
15 Days/14 Nights
DAY 01: LIMA Reception at the airport. Transfer to your Hotel.
DAY 02: LIMA/PARACAS (B) In the morning there will be a private City Tour in Lima. Tour of the modern and colonial Lima city. We will visit to the Cathedral, Main Square, San Francisco Convent and its Catacombs, and the modern areas of San Isidro and Miraflores. Transfer to the bus station. Departure to Paracas. Reception and transfer to the Hotel.
DAY 03: PARACAS/ICA (B) In the morning we will tour to Ballestas islands. You can see marine wolves, penguin and birds. We will visit the famous "candelabra" enigma. Transfer to Ica city. Then we will visit to wineries. Overnight stay.
DAY 04: ICA/NAZCA (B) In the morning we will transfer to the bus station. Departure to Nazca. Transfer to the Hotel. Overnight stay in Nazca.
DAY 05: NAZCA/AREQUIPA (B) In the morning transfer to the airfield to fly over the Nazca Lines (fly about 30 minutes). Tour of the archeological site Chauchilla to wiew the Mummies’ Cemetery, and Cantayoc nazca aqueduct. Transfer to the bus station. Departure to Arequipa. Reception and transfer to the hotel.
DAY 06: LIMA/AREQUIPA (B) In the afternoon there will be city tour of the best places in Arequipa. We will visit Yanahuara, cathedral and the convent Santa Catalina.
DAY 07: AREQUIPA/COLCA (B) Early in the morning we will depart to Colca canyon, during the trip you can visit the Yura spa and then Cañahuas´s National Reserve. After a few hours you arrive to Chivay. Transfer to your hotel.
DAY 08: COLCA/AREQUIPA (B) Departure to Cruz del Cóndor, here you can appreciate condors flying, then you can visit Colca canyon. Finally you go back to Arequipa city. Overnight stay.
DAY 09: AREQUIPA/PUNO (B) Transfer to the bus station. Departure to Puno. Reception and transfer to the Hotel in Puno. Free day.
DAY 10: PUNO/TAQUILE (B) You will be picked up from your hotel in Puno around 6:40 AM. After a 2-hour motorboat trip you will arrive at Uros island. Fishermen and hunters still inhabit the famous Uros floating Island. The residents of Uros use the cattail, which grows in the lake, to create the conditions that ensure the island stay afloat. Then we will visit Taquile island, there is also a shop on the plaza that sells exceptional woolen items. The island is narrow at about 1 Km. wide and 6 to 7 Km. long. The visit could be exhausting because of the 533 steps on the stone stairway to climb to get to the village and because of the altitude (13,000 ft above sea level). Return to Puno city.
DAY 11: PUNO/CUSCO (B) Transfer from the hotel to the bus station and departure to Cuzco on first class bus, which besides being very comfortable with reclining seats has TV and a toilet. We will visit some ruins on the way. We will stop in a good restaurant to have a buffet lunch.
Arrive to Cuzco and transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay in Cuzco.
DAY 12: CUSCO (B) Free morning. Tour of the impressive Colonial Cathedral in Cusco that contains over 400 paintings from the Cusqueña School, and several altars. After that we will visit the Temple of the Sun, which has been the main religious center of the Incas, it was dedicated to the Sun Cult. According to the chroniclers, the walls of this temple were entirely covered with gold. Here we will visit the Four Ruins at less than 8 km from Cusco, including Sacsayhuamán, famous for its enormous carved rocks and Q´enqo and Tambomachay. Return to Cusco. Transfer to the hotel.
DAY 13: CUSCO/VALLE SAGRADO (B-L) The tour starts at 8:30am. You will be picked up from the hotel. Transfer by bus to Pisac, where the excursion really starts. Here you will visit the Pisac archeological complex and its typical handmade. We will continue the trip to Urubamba where we will have lunch. After lunch we will visit Ollantaytambo, a small town which is a sample of the level of architecture that Incas had reached. Tour of the village with many original Inca Walls, and the ruins. On our way back to Cusco we will pass and visit the typical market and archeological site of Chincheros. Return to Cusco.
DAY 14: CUSCO/MACHUPICCHU/CUSCO (B) Early in the morning transfer to the San Pedro station in Cusco. The trip from Cusco to Aguas Calientes takes about 3 hours and a half, following the course of Vilcanota River. In Machu Picchu we will start a 2 hours and a half guided tour. You also will have another hour and a half to explore the ruins individually. In the afternoon go back by train to Cusco. The train back to Cusco departs around 4:00pm. Transfer to the Hotel.
DAY 15: CUSCO/LIMA (B) Breakfast in the hotel, transfer to the airport. Return to Lima.
