MYSTIC PERU PROGRAM 01: LIMA - IQUITOS - PUNO - CUSCO
14 Days/13 Nights
DAY 01: LIMA Reception in the airport and transfer to the Hotel.
DAY 02: LIMA (B) In the morning there will be a private City Tour in Lima. Visit the modern and colonial city of Lima. Tour of the Cathedral, Main Square, San Francisco Convent and its Catacombs, the modern areas of San Isidro and Miraflores. Transfer to the hotel.
DAY 03: IQUITOS/CITY TOUR/BORAS/SERPENTARIO/LODGE (L-D)
Reception in the airport with a guide. Transfer to private bus. City tours to visit the main places such as main square, Fierro Boulevard’s house. Tour of to the Municipal museum, and then you will go down the Momón and Nanay rivers by boat to the lodge, then you visit the Boras tribe.
DAY 04: LODGE (B-L-D) Early in the morning at 5:30 a.m., you can appreciate different birds. Tour of the area by canoe for an hour. Afterwards, we will take a short trek in the jungle, the guide will explain to you about medicinal plants, birds and other species. Trip to Jibaros tribe, Gen Gen town, and Strong Centre country house. You will also visit the mini-zoo called Chullachaki and the Botanical garden.
DAY 05: LODGE (B-L-D) Trip to Trapiche to see how Aguardiente, a traditional drink is made, where you sample some yourself. Also you can fish. Here, your guide plays different instruments typical of the area with the local people for your entertainment during the tour.
DAY 06: LODGE/AMAZONAS RIVER (B-L-D) Full day on the Amazon river. You will visit Monkey’s Island and you also can see dolphins.
DAY 07: LODGE/YAGUAS/PILPINTUHASI/RIO NANAY/IQUITOS/
LIMA (B-L) Trip to Yaguas tribe and “Pilpintuhuasi”, this is a place where the people breed butterflies. Transfer to Nanay port for a trip to appreciate the confluence of the Nanay and Momón rivers. City tours to visit Quistococha where there is a lagoon and a zoo (Belen floating city). Finally, transfer to the airport to fly back to Lima. Reception and transfer to the Hotel.
DAY 08: LIMA/PUNO (B) In the morning transfer to the airport to fly to Puno city. Reception and transfer to the Hotel in Puno. Tour of the Sillustani archeological complex, the trip from Puno to Sillustani takes about 45 minutes. It is located near to the Umayo lagoon and it is famous because it has “chullpas, they are similar to towers of stones, and they were used to keep the remains of main leaders of the lands of Collao. Return to Puno. Overnight stay.
DAY 09: PUNO/TAQUILE (B) You will be picked up from your hotel in Puno around 6:40 AM. After a 2-hour motorboat trip you will arrive at Uros island. Fishermen and hunters still inhabit the famous Uros floating Island. The residents of Uros use the cattail, which grows in the lake, to create the conditions that ensure the island stay afloat. Then we will visit Taquile island, there is also a shop on the plaza that sells exceptional woolen items. The island is narrow at about 1 Km. wide and 6 to 7 Km. long. The visit could be exhausting because of the 533 steps on the stone stairway to climb to get to the village and because of the altitude (13,000 ft above sea level). Return to Puno city.
DAY 10: PUNO/CUSCO (B) Transfer from the hotel to the bus station and departure to Cuzco on first class bus, which besides being very comfortable with reclined seats has TV and a toilet. We will visit some ruins on the way. We will stop in a good restaurant to have a buffet lunch.
Arrive to Cuzco and transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel in Cuzco.
DAY 11: CUSCO (B) Free morning. Tour of the impressive Colonial Cathedral in Cusco that contains over 400 paintings from the Cusqueña School, and several altars. After that we will visit the Temple of the Sun, which has been the main religious center of the Incas, it was dedicated to the Sun Cult. According to the chroniclers, the walls of this temple were entirely covered with gold. Here we will visit the Four Ruins at less than 8 km from Cusco, including Sacsayhuamán, famous for its enormous carved rocks and Q´enqo and Tambomachay. Return to Cusco. Transfer to the hotel.
DAY 12: CUSCO/VALLE SAGRADO (B-L) The tour starts at 8:30am. You will be picked up from the hotel. Transfer by bus to Pisac, where the excursion really starts. Here you will visit the Pisac archeological complex and its typical handmade. We will continue the trip to Urubamba where we will have lunch. After lunch we will visit Ollantaytambo, a small town which is a real sample of the level of architecture that Incas reached. Tour of the village with many original Inca Walls, and the ruins. On our way back to Cusco we will pass and visit the typical market and archeological site of Chincheros. Return to Cusco.
DAY 13: CUSCO/MACHUPICCHU/CUSCO (B) Early in the morning transfer to the San Pedro station in Cusco. The trip from Cusco to Aguas Calientes takes about 3 hours and a half, following the course of Vilcanota River. In Machu Picchu we will start a 2 hours and a half guided tour. You also will have another hour and a half to explore the ruins individually. In the afternoon go back by train to Cusco. The train back to Cusco departs around 4:00pm. Transfer to the Hotel.
DAY 14: CUSCO/LIMA (B) In the morning transfer to the airport. Return to Lima. |
